WHERE WILL YOU SPEND YOUR ETERNITY

Eternity in simple definition is eternal existence, especially as contrasted with mortal life. It is the timeless state into which the soul passes at a person’s death.
In a simple word what the above definition is trying to convey to us is that after a person dies his soul will continue to live on i.e. in a state of self consciousness forever.
This is what Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour was trying to relay to us in the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-31.
The rich man and Lazarus lived their lives here on earth and when they both died physically their soul continue to live on in another realm of self consciousness (i.e. they entered into eternity).The place where you will spend your eternity whether in heaven or hell is dependent  on  how you live your life while on earth.  In order words it’s a function of choices you make on a daily basis while you are still alive on this earth.
The rich man found himself in hell not because he was rich but because he lived a wicked and selfish life style.  He has no regard for the poor and the needy. He had no fear of God. While, Lazarus found himself in heaven not because he was poor but because he lived a life that was pleasing unto God.
How can you live a life pleasing unto God?
This you can do by knowing God and the only way to know God is through Jesus Christ. John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no one cometh unto the father, but by me”. The only way to have access to God the father is through Jesus Christ his son.  John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life”.  
God created man in his image and likeness according to Gen. 2:17, but man later fell into sin 
due to his disobedience to God’s instructions by reason of man giving heed to the deceit of Satan and this resulted in man becoming separated from God, hence man lost access to God.
God who is all knowing, knew that the separation of man from Him due to sin mean eternal condemnation for man because even if man die physically his soul will still be separated from God eternally that is why God made provision for atonement of the sin of man in letting Jesus Christ to die on the cross for man’s sin. Romans 3:25, “Whom God hath sent forth to be propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God”.
Today, what are you still waiting for, your good works (deeds) cannot save you Isaiah 64:6,  “But we are all as unclean thing and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; as we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities like the wind, have taken us away”.
The only way you can be reconciled back unto God is by repenting of your sins and putting you faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.  
If you reject Jesus Christ you will be eternally separated from God.  But if you accept Jesus Christ today as your Lord and Saviour you will be reconciled to God and your sins shall be forgiven.  Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”
